SKIING PACKAGE FOR WINTER

Skiing

The skiing packages are organised  at Narkanda during winters.

HOW TO REACH: Narkanda is situated at a distance of 65 km from Shimla on NH - 22 towards Rampur and Kinnaur after crossing Kufri, Fagu Theog and Matiana. It is connected by regular Bus / Taxi services. In case traveling from Delhi, state transport buses traveling from Delhi to Rampur cross Narkanda. Buses from Delhi leave in the night. Distance from New Delhi to Narkanda is 434 km.

 

 

 

 

Skiing

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION:

PHYSICAL FITNESS: It is commonly believed that only athletes can aspire to be skiing. This is not true. However, good physical conditions will ensure quick all around progress and avoid accidents. It is, therefore, recommended that 30 minutes exercise for about 20 days prior to joining the courses will be of help to tone-up the required muscles and enable the trainees to pick-up skiing quickly and efficiently.  Some suggested exercises are given below.

1.  JOGGING 
2.  SKY JUMPS 60 TO 100
3.  ABDOMINAL EXERCISE.
4.  DEEP BREATHING EXERCISE.
5.  LIGHT YOGA EXERCISE.

MEDICAL FACILITIES: Medical facilities are available in the Government health centers and private clinics at Manali and Narkanda. It is advisable to bring blood group card and any special instruction regarding medicines for sprain , headache, cold and pain balm, foot powder and other relevant patent medicines.

RISK: In the modern techniques of ski training and with advanced equipment the chances of injuries are greatly reduced.  However, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Limited / Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports does not take any responsibility should any mishap or other unavoidable factors occur. Participants, who are below 21 years of age, will have to get the accompanying information from signed by their parents / guardians.

INSURANCE: Participants are advised to insure themselves against accident before joining the course.

TRAVELING CONCESSION: Participants should bring their own / rail concession certificates.  Reservation of rail / air journeys are to be done by the participants  though our offices will render all possible assistance.

ESSENTIAL ITEMS REQUIRED: Participants are advised to bring the following articles with them:

  1. Gum boots / snow boots, mountain jersey
  2. Small torch with cells.
  3. Toilet articles as required.
  4. Woolen/leather gloves.
  5. Woolen clothing cap, Including socks etc.
  6. Wind proof or padded jacket.
  7. Dark glasses.

ADVENTURE CAMPS

 

 HIMALAYAN ADVENTURE CAMP (4 DAYS)

Day 1                On arrival . Evening tea, dinner and night stay at The Kunzam / The Rohtang  Manalsu, Manali.

Day 2               After breakfast familiarization with surroundings.

                        Visit to the museum and introduction with equipment.

                        Gian Confidence.

                        Climbing practice on sport climbing wall.

                        Know Thy Country

                        Visit to Roerich Art Gallery at Naggar Castle.

 

Day 3               Building up endurance, temperament team & spirit courage

                        Rock climbing.

                       

                        Teamwork and leadership qualities

                        Group planning and individual obstacles in afternoon

                        Motivation & faith

                        Visit to Hadimba temple

 

Day 4               Gain self confidence, building strong bonds

                        Rappelling to and attitude to take a risk.

                        Teamwork physical fitness and motivation.

                        River crossing,

Day 5               After breakfast departure.

                        Visit to Naggar Art Gallery and Castle. Lunch at Naggar. 

Day 5               Motivation & faith

                        Visit to Hadimba temple and move to Solang Camp (By Vehicle)

                        Sense of sacrifice & social skills

                        Stay in twin sharing tents

                        Gain self confidence, building strong bonds Rappelling.

                        Teamwork physical fitness and motivation.

                        River crossing.

Day 6               Know Thy Country

Visit to Rohtang Pass by vehicle  and reach Manali by the evening. Closing Ceremony.

Day 7               After breakfast departure.
